Doha: As the deadline for the “Traffic Violations Settlement Initiative” approaches, the General Directorate of Traffic urged people to benefit from the initiative.
“We remind you that the 50% discount on accumulated traffic violation amounts ends on Thursday, March 17, 2022. Payment can be made electronically through Metrash2 and MOI e-services portal,” the Ministry of Interior tweeted today.
After the end of the initiative, there will be stricter new legal procedures regarding the collection of traffic violations.
As per regulations in the initiatives, people can avail 50 percent discount while paying the accumulated traffic violations duirng the last three years, while the violations which commiited before December, 2018 not included in the initiatve.
Also, the discount is valid on traffic fines regardless of any restrictions registered against the vehicle.
The imitative was begun on December 18, 2021.
Speaking to an Arabic Daily Newspaper, Al Sharq, Acting Director-General Directorate of Traffic Brig. Mohammed Abdullah Al Shahwani said that after the end of this period, new legal procedures will be applied regarding the collection of traffic violations based on not accumulating them in the future.
This will be done in coordination with the relevant authorities, whether within the Ministry of Interior or other competent authorities in the judiciary.
