Ministry publishes 2020-21 calendar for public schools

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has published the 2020-2021 academic calendar for public schools.

The calendar can be viewed on the ministry’s website.

The 2019-2020 second round exams for grades 1-12 (morning/adult education) will be held from August 23-31.

On August 19, staff will return to schools for the 2020-2021 academic year. The first day of the new academic year is September 1.

Midterm 1 examinations for grades 1-11 (morning) will be held from October 20-29.

Term 1 final exams for grades 10, 11 and 12 (morning/adult education) will take place from December 2-13, while Term 1 final exams for grades 1-9 (morning/adult education) will be held from December 2-10.

The midterm break is from December 20-31, with Term 2 beginning on January 3, 2021.

Term 1 second round exams for grades 1-11 (morning/adult education) will be held from January 19-28, 2021.

Midterm 2 exams for grades 10 and 11 (morning) will take place from March 2-11, while midterm 2 exams for grades 1-9 (morning) will be held from March 3-11.

The midterm 2 break is from March 14-18. Classes will resume after the midterm 2 break on March 21.

Term 2 final exams for grades 10, 11 and 12 (morning/adult education) will be held from May 30 to June 9, and the Term 2 final exams for grades 1-9 (morning/adult education) will take place from May 31 to June 8.

The school staff holiday is from June 20 to August 19. 

Second round exams for grades 1-12 (morning/adult education) will be held from July 6 to 14.

School staff will return to schools for the 2021-2022 academic year on August 22. The first day of the 2021-2022 academic year will be on August 24, 2021.


Results of secondary certificate exams to be announced tomorrow


The Ministry of Education and Higher Education will announce tomorrow the results of the general secondary certificate exams for the 2019/2020 academic year.

The exams of the second semester of the general secondary certificate for the 2019/2020 academic year were held from June 1-13, where 11,500 students performed the tests in 149 headquarters.

The ministry has also allocated some 6,100 employees to serve as observers and on committees for the conduct of tests.

According to the ministerial decision issued by HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammad recently regarding amending some provisions of the annual calendar of schools for the 2019/2020 academic year, the dates of the second round exams for all grades from (first to 12th / day and adult education) will start on August 23 and continue until August 31. - QNA
