Ministries take measures against coronavirus spread

Within the framework of preventive measures taken by the government to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), several ministries and entities have announced of many measures.

The steps include closure of children’s play area in the parks, postponing the training sessions and workshops, carrying out cleaning and sterilisation campaigns in many markets.

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment has decided to close the children’s play area in the parks, in order to ensure the safety and health of visitors.  The Ministry said that this came in the framework of preventive measures taken by the State of Qatar to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

Al Shamal Municipality has intensified inspection campaigns on the abattoirs and markets. The relevant department at Municipality has carried out a number of measures to ensure the health and safety of all workers in stores and to keep them free from any diseases.

Al Daayen Municipality has implemented a joint cleaning campaign for three days that include cleaning and washing containers, spraying pesticides, and cleaning and washing public facilities in parks. The campaign will continue to cover all areas.

The Ministry of Endowment and Islamic Affairs has suspended the study in the Quran teaching centres until further notice.

The Ministry of Public Health has urged all citizens and residents to take preventive measures to protect against infection and to contact the ministry’s Coronavirus call centre for the latest information regarding the virus using the toll-free phone number (16000).

Al Jazeera Media Institute also announced the postponement of all courses and training workshops at the Institute’s headquarters, due to the current situation and for the safety of the trainees and employees.

In a tweet yesterday, the Institute added that the new dates will be announced as soon as possible.
