Doha, Qatar: Microsoft officially unveiled its booth at Expo 2023 Doha, showcasing the latest data and artificial intelligence (AI) innovations essential for organizations to minimize their environmental impact, foster climate resilience, preserve nature, and contribute to a more economically and environmentally sustainable future.

The inauguration, led by Mohamed Ali Al Khoori, Secretary General of Expo 2023 Doha, included the presence of Harold "Lee" Brayman, Commercial Officer, and Srinivasa Murthy, Commercial Specialist from the Foreign Commercial Service, American Embassy Doha. The event was attended by representatives from local media and featured an insightful tour.

Highlighting the ongoing technological transformation in the agricultural and horticultural sectors, Mohamed Ali Al Khoori emphasized the pivotal role of technology in establishing sustainable systems to address environmental challenges. He expressed pride in collaborating with Microsoft, a global technology leader, to introduce technology-powered agriculture to the world.

Speaking at the event, Lana Khalaf, General Manager of Microsoft Qatar, underscored Microsoft's commitment to advancing climate change initiatives aligned with Qatar's National Environment and Climate Change Strategy. She emphasized the importance of balancing economic growth, social development, and environmental preservation. Khalaf highlighted Microsoft's ongoing collaboration with organizations in Qatar, offering resources, learnings, and technology, including data and AI capabilities, to help them make informed decisions for climate goals, business growth, and innovation.

The Microsoft booth at Expo 2023 Doha features a diverse array of solutions, including Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability, Emissions Impact Dashboards for Azure and M365, Microsoft Sustainability Manager, and solutions by Microsoft partners such as QMIC, Siemens, Techvista, Alight, Click2cloud, Bravent, TCS, and Accenture/Agerpoint.

These solutions, spanning renewable energy, vertical farming, carbon capture, and climate monitoring, aim to assist organizations in reducing energy and water consumption, minimizing physical footprints, and designing sustainable products. The innovative solutions also showcase the significant role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in unlocking opportunities for sustainability.

The Expo 2023 Doha Innovation Centre provides a platform to explore Microsoft's latest sustainability innovations, with the event scheduled to run until March 28, 2024.

Microsoft is committed to reducing its environmental footprint by achieving carbon negativity, water positivity, and zero waste by 2030. Additionally, the company aims to remove all carbon emitted since its founding by 2050, including carbon emissions from its global datacenter operations. Microsoft actively invests in renewable energy sources to power its datacenters, making Microsoft Cloud services significantly more energy and carbon-efficient than traditional enterprise data centers.
