Mercury drops below 9 degrees

Temperature dropped below 9 degrees Celsius yesterday, leaving most parts of the country shivering. Frosty Siberian winds caused temperature to fall below the predicted range in most places yesterday.
The weather bureau has forecast a weak chance for light scattered rains today, due to increased cloud formation. However, there is an increased chance for the heavy rains accompanied by thunder to return over the weekend.
Today, the weather will be mild with slight dust at times and partly cloudy with weak chance of light rain at places at times. Nights would be comparatively cooler.  In Doha, the day temperature forecast is 18 degrees Celsius , while the night will be chilly, with the temperature dropping to 12 degrees.

Mesaieed and Al Wakrah would see a temperature ranging between 17 and 11 degrees Celsius, while Dukhan would have temperatures between 15 and 13 degrees Celsius and Ruwais between 16 and 13 degrees Celsius. Abu Samrah would have temperature between 16 and 11 degrees Celsius and in Al Khor the temperature would be between 17 and 10 degrees Celsius.
However, minimum temperature observed in different parts of the country yesterday fell much below the minimum forecast at 10 degrees Celsius.
While Al Ghuwayriya and Al Shahaniya recorded minimum temperature of 9 degrees Celsius, Al Turayna, Al Karanah, Al Batna, and Al Khor recorded minimum temperature of 8 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile in Messaieed, the minimum temperature rose to 15 degrees Celsius against the forecast of 11 degrees Celsius.
The north-westerly wind will blow between 7 to 17 knots, reaching up to 22 knots inshore at times and 28 knots offshore at places at times.
Wave height would be between 7 to 9 feet. With the north–westerly winds expected to continue until Tuesday, the weather bureau has extended its sea warnings of strong winds and high seas until then.
