Doha: The Search and Follow-up Department of the General Directorate of Passports arrested one person, who assisted 15 maids of the same nationality to run away and also illegally hid and employed them in the Al Salata region.
According to the details announced by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on its Twitter page, when they received information about someone helping domestic workers run way and hide, a special team was immediately formed to investigate the matter. After obtaining the necessary permissions, the accused was arrested in red handed harboring 15 female workers in a rented house in the Al Salata area.
During the interrogation, the accused, of African nationality, confessed the crime and explained how he lured the domestic workers with special offers to work in private houses. The accused were referred to the authorities for further legal proceedings in this regard.
Ministry of Interior urged public to refrain from dealing with run-away workers to avoid any legal accountability or exposure to various crimes.
