Malabar Group condoles demise of co-chairman

Malabar Group chairman M P Ahammed has condoled the death of co-chairman Dr P A Ibrahim Haji, 78.

In a statement, Ahammed said that Dr P A Ibrahim Haji will always be remembered for his commendable contributions in the field of education. Dr Ibrahim Haji was a renowned businessman and philanthropist.

"As co-chairman of Malabar Group, his activities always served as inspiration for us, and he contributed greatly to the development of our company. A true believer in the power of education to empower communities, his contributions in the field of education are noteworthy. His social commitment lives through the various educational institutions and the different charitable endeavours he has initiated in India and abroad. He made charity a way of life. We are deeply saddened by his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family."

Dr Ibrahim Haji, admitted on December 11 in a Dubai hospital following a cerebral stroke, was shifted on Monday to a hospital in Kozhikode, in the southern Indian state of Kerala. He passed away yesterday.

Dr Ibrahim Haji has established several enterprises including Indus Motor Company, a prominent auto dealer in Kerala. It was in 1966 that he came to the Gulf and later set up in sectors including textile, jewellery and garments.

In 1999, the veteran entrepreneur forayed into the education sector, through PACE Group, which today has schools in India, the UAE and Kuwait, catering to 20,000 students from 25 countries.
