LuLu launches ق€˜Shop safe and Stay healthyق€™ campaign

The front-line retailer of the region, LuLu Hypermarket has launched a ‘Shop safe and Stay healthy’ campaign and urged its customers and employees alike not to lower their guard. Since beginning of the pandemic, LuLu Group has put in place enhanced cleaning and hygiene protocols to ensure safe and healthy shopping environment for its customers, the chief hygiene officer said in a statement yesterday.

Although the situation is very much under control, it was advised by the management not to lower their guard and take all possible measures to meet the standards of health and hygiene. LuLu Group has also deployed well-trained safety marshals in the aisles of all branches across the region, who will monitor the customer flow and make sure that health and safety standards are observed stringently in the stores. They will also help customers with safety queries and reiterate government guidelines to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing while they shop.

Additionally, the marshals stationed at the entrance of the store will provide sanitised baskets/trolleys to customer as they enter. Speaking on the initiative, Dr Mohamed Althaf, director of LuLu Group said: “Since the Covid-19 outbreak, we have all had to adapt to the many changes made throughout the country needed to stay safe. Covid-19 is still impacting every avenue of our lives, therefore, our safety initiatives are altered and updated in line with the government guidance to ensure that our stores are as safe as possible for both our colleagues and our customers”.

From the beginning LuLu Group had organised a campaign, ‘Your Health is in your Hands’ aiming to promote awareness on hand hygiene among its customers, employees and general public, and implemented a series of Covid-19 protocols in their stores.

These included social distancing guidelines by placing signage at vantage points inside the stores, pre-packed supply of vegetables, fruits, roastery, cheese, meat and bakery, display of essential items at multiple locations of the store to avoid crowding up, cashless payment option at checkouts, dedicated checkouts for elderly and vulnerable shoppers, enhanced e-commerce services such as ‘Express Delivery’ option for a same-day delivery and ‘Click and Collect’ option for a store pick-up service through its online shopping platform.

Another safety measure that LuLu Group propagated for the safety of the shoppers was that they were advised to come alone and not to bring children and the elderly while shopping. Shoppers were also advised to do their shopping fast and leave the showroom quickly with a view to enhance their safety.

Right from the early days of the pandemic, LuLu Group had taken steps to ensure continuous thorough cleaning and sanitisation of all shared surfaces and touch points at hypermarkets such as shopping trolley handles, baskets, handrails of the travellators and lifts, and washrooms and common areas.
