ق€˜Turkish shipbuilders getting good inquiriesق€™

Turkish ship builders at the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (Dimdex 2018) are attracting the attention of the visitors with a captivating display of many models of ships.

Representatives of the ship builders said they are getting some good inquiries from potential customers. “We are expecting some good orders here and the last day would hopefully bring some cheerful news to some of our builders,” said one of the officials at Tais Shipyards pavilion, which features several

models of ships.

Sedef, Anadolu, Istanbul, Selah and Sefine are the five shipyards jointly participating in Doha under Tais banner. “Our expertise and enterprise in the shipbuilding industry is second to none and Turkey has a large number of shipyards, including at least 30 big ones, where huge ships could be built,” said the Tais official.

Turkey, like South Korea, has a good infrastructure in shipbuilding and its strategic geographical advantages would help the country receive good business in the region.

At the expo, Turkish shipbuilders have on display even models of aircraft carriers which they have built, one of them as long as 231m.

They have showcased models of landing helicopter docks, fleet replenishment tankers, floating docks, fleet support ship, logistics support ship, offshore research vessels, offshore patrolling vessels, emergency response and rescue vessels, patrol boats and craft vehicles among

others.

There are at least three other pavilions of shipyards from Turkey at the Dimdex. Yesterday, one of the companies coming under Tais won an order from the Qatari Naval Force.
