Katara Drama Theatre continues to present plays remotely

Katara Drama Theatre is set to present a reading of the play “Out at Sea” written by Polish playwright Slawomir Mrozek today. The activity is part of Katara Drama Theatre’s continuing theatrical presentations being done every Friday during the entire summer season.

“Out at Sea” is a hilarious one-act absurd comedy which depicts significant issues in the society. Mrozek was one of the most outstanding Polish playwrights mostly inspired by theatre of the absurd. The upcoming activity is part of Katara’s Summer 2020 Events which was launched by the Cultural Village Foundation as remote events and activities which can be accessed by the public via its social media platforms in line with the country’s precautionary and preventive measures against COVID-19.

The play reading which will be shown this Friday has been pre-recorded in a safe working condition that follows precautionary procedures in which each actor is filmed separately, after which the recordings are put together in a way that follows the flow of the play based on characters’ dialogue.

The theatrical presentations comprise 12 plays which are read by a distinguished group of actors including Faisal Rashid, Abdullah Al Asem, Nada Ahmed, Khalid Khamis, Heba Lutfi, Muhammad Adel, Ali Al Sharshani, Amina Al Wakili, Asrar and Fatima Al Shorouqi.

These play readings have been received well by artistes and the public inside and outside Qatar, with many artistes expressing great interest to take part as they consider such activities unique and distinctive
