Katara Centre for Public Diplomacy established

Katara - The Cultural Village has announced the establishment of Katara Centre for Public Diplomacy. The aim is to strengthen the international relationships and enhancing communication among the peoples of different cultures.

The centre aims at building national capabilities in the field of public diplomacy and enhancing young Qatari people's knowledge of the involved cultural aspects. Besides, it aims at organising various related events and activities and publish the researches and studies on the importance of public diplomacy.

This initiative came after Katara won the presidency of the Global Public Diplomacy Network for the upcoming three years and was also able to attract 27 countries from around the world to join the network.

Prof Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, general manager of Katara, and chairman of the Public Diplomacy Network, expressed his happiness at the establishment of Katara Centre for Public Diplomacy as a private entity with public benefit and its headquarters in Katara, which is considered the first its kind in Qatar and the region.

Darwish Ahmed al-Shaibani, secretary general of the Global Public Diplomacy Network, stressed that the new centre is a valued addition to the various successes of Katara and reflect positively in enhancing global communication and understanding.
