Jupiter and Saturn in great conjunction

Qatar skies yesterday witnessed the ‘great conjunction’ between the two gaseous giants in the solar system Jupiter and Saturn. The angular distance between the two planets during the phenomenon is only six arc minutes, which is the closest visible conjunction between them in the evening sky in 794 years, Qatar Calendar House said. Qatar residents were able to observe this rare conjunction with the naked eye above the southwestern horizon after the sunset yesterday until 7.04pm Doha local time. PICTURE: Jayan Orma
