Inspections by Al Wakra Municipality on food establishments

The Health Control Section of the Municipal Control Department at Al Wakra Municipality carried out 1,312 field inspection tours of food establishments during August.

The inspections, according to a statement from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, resulted in issuing 39 violations according to Law No. 8 of 1990 regarding the regulation of human food control. While 35 were reconciled, the rest were sent to the police for appropriate measures. The department also received and addressed 15 complaints. A total of 21 samples were sent to the central laboratory.

The municipality officials examined 8,483 livestock carcasses bodies at the automated slaughterhouse in Al Wakra and destroyed 420 completely apart from 28,672kg of meat as they were found unsuitable for human consumption. A total of 33 tonnes of fish were examined and 260kg destroyed. The director of Al-Wakra Municipality alsol issued an administrative decision to close a restaurant for violating the Food Control Law.
