Innovative Katara brings home Eid al-Fitr festivities remotely

Katara — the Cultural Village Foundation has announced that it will launch its Eid al-Fitr celebrations with a collection of creative and distinguished festivities that will be remotely conducted through its website, www.katara.net.

In this way, Katara will provide people with a festive atmosphere full of joy, amazement and excitement while adopting the theme ‘Stay at home and your gift will be delivered to you’, which is in line with the preventive and precautionary measures adopted by the State to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), the foundation has said in a statement.

The programme of Katara’s online Eid festivities have a number of surprises in store, and will be launched today with various e-draws from 4pm until 6pm.

The first distribution of Katara’s Eid gifts starts at 7pm, while there will be a virtual fireworks display at 8pm.

This will be followed by the second round of Eid gift distribution around 9pm.

Katara has stressed the importance of registration on its website to obtain the remotely-granted gifts (in-kind or e-gifts).

Participants can get their gifts through a virtual queue or random e-draw that will be conducted through the website.

Participants who win in the draw will receive an e-voucher through WhatsApp on the number specified.

The remotely given in-kind gifts will be delivered to the winners through the delivery platform and sponsor, Rafeeq, after May 30.

Other draws will also be conducted through the accounts of some social media influencers.

Meanwhile, Katara will distribute Eid gifts among the children of Dreama — Orphan Care Centre and those in quarantine, among others.

Katara has been keen to introduce a number of innovative competitions such as the selection of the best dress for children through sending a photograph or video of the participating child.

This is on the condition that such a picture or video should be of a high quality.

The winning entries shall be the property of Katara and it will have the right to use them for any purpose.

The deadline for receiving entries is May 30, 8pm.

For participation, videos or photos should be send to the WhatsApp number, 66011303.

Five winners will be selected for the most beautiful Eid outfit, with electronic gadgets as prizes.

Also, the videos will be posted on Katara’s Instagram account.

Since the start of Covid-19 outbreak, Katara has been keen to follow all preventive and precautionary measures and increase public awareness on the importance of social and physical distancing while maintaining its cultural and community role through a series of remotely held activities and programmes — such as workshops, exhibitions and forums as well as a number of competitions with attractive prizes — to support the efforts of the State in this regard, while enhancing the creativity of people in different fields.
