After the extraordinary success of Mughal-E-Azam, Q-Tickets is bringing to Doha, popular Indian singer Sonu Nigam Live in Concert on January 23, 2020, at the Asian Town Amphitheatre, it was announced yesterday.
Widely regarded to be one of the best male singers in India, Nigam is a well-known powerhouse in his own right as a multi-talented composer and playback singer.
Born in Faridabad in the northern Indian state of Haryana, the only son of singer/composer Agam Kumar Nigam, he showed an early talent for singing and impersonations.
He made his first appearance on stage at the age of four, but national fame eluded him until he joined the cast of reality TV show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (a version of America’s Star Search with a distinctly Indian flavour) back in 1995. This magnificent singer has sung more than 10,000 songs.
The Magnificent Performing Arts Award at the 21st Century Icon Awards in London, Best Playback Male Singer in Annual Central European Bollywood Awards are among the numerous honours bestowed on him.
With his trademark goatee, well-coiffed hair and designer clobber, Nigam has something of the rock star about him, but when he steps on stage he never forgets the popular artistes who first inspired him.
