ICAI Doha & Kuwait chapters hold leadership conclave

The Doha and Kuwait chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) jointly organised a leadership conclave with two motivational sessions held online.

The event gathered nearly 200 participants comprising of the Doha and Kuwait chapter members, dignitaries, and members from other countries. The sessions were also held live on YouTube.

Nirlep Bhatt and Deepak Bindal, chairpersons of the Doha and Kuwait chapters, respectively, delivered introductory speeches during the event, which aims to provide learning and networking opportunities to ICAI members. Prafulla Chhajed, past president of the ICAI, lauded the staging of the joint event with relevant topics and celebrated personalities.

Gyanesh Tibrewal introduced the first speaker, Madan Lal, renowned former cricketer and coach of the Indian cricket team who played a pivotal role in India’s historic victory in the 1983 Cricket World Cup.

Lal spoke on the topic ‘Nothing is Impossible’, in which he inspired the audience to adopt a disciplined lifestyle with a healthy diet and regular exercise. Citing examples such as leading the Indian cricket team to the 1983 World Cup, he emphasised that self-belief and teamwork are the keys to achieve success in any sport.

He also encouraged the audience to combine talent with passion, discipline, and hard work in order to achieve success. A Q&A session was held after the session, which was moderated by Kamlesh Tibrewal.

Vignesh Kalyanaraman introduced the second speaker, Dr Anil Khandelwal, former chairman of the Bank of Baroda and Dena Bank, who spoke on ‘Becoming a Transformational Leader’.

Khandelwal explained that the transformational leader is someone who dares to change the status quo, primarily through resetting the people and processes. Khandelwal explained the essential ingredients of leadership: higher vision, passion for change, strong adherence to ethics, and being transparent about the feedback, using the ‘leadership ladder’.

He stressed that the main role of a transformational leader, which is to create a culture of excellence, empowerment, and engagement. He said the ‘Leadership Tree’ includes physical, emotional, professional, ethical, and spiritual fitness. The session was also followed by a Q&A moderated by Tuhin Chaturvedi.

The event was opened by Andaleeb, while the vote of thanks was given by Ankit Agarwal, who gave concluding remarks and also thanked the speakers, sponsors, dignitaries, and members.
