HSBC launches ق€˜Voice IDق€™ in Qatar

HSBC has launched ‘Voice ID’ in Qatar enabling retail customers to access their accounts by using their own voice. HSBC is already one of the world’s largest users of biometric technology for financial services and has invested $2.8bn globally in technology in H1, 2020 to make the bank simpler, safer and more personalised to customer needs.

“We continue to upgrade and digitise our technology infrastructure to deliver outstanding customer experience. With Voice ID our customers will have easier access to their accounts without compromising any of the secure features as their voice will be their password. They will be able to enjoy a seamless and fast service,” said Omar al-Ansari, head (Wealth and Personal Banking) in Qatar.

With the use of voice biometrics, HSBC Voice ID creates a unique voiceprint for customers, which is used to verify their identity in the most secure way. The new form of verification aims to make the process easier for customers by reducing the need to memorise PINs and answer additional security questions.  “All customers over the age of 18 can register for Voice ID by calling our contact centre and following a few simple steps,” al-Ansari added.

HSBC opened its first digitally focused branch in Msheireb in September 2020 as part of its ongoing investment in digital.
