Hamad International Airport Releases Guidelines for Seamless Holiday Travel

Doha,Qatar : With the holiday season around the corner and many of Qatar’s residents gearing up for travel, Hamad International Airport is well-prepared to handle the anticipated surge in passengers. Recognizing the importance of connecting with family and friends during this festive period, the airport has implemented enhanced procedures to ensure a seamless and stress-free travel experience at the terminal.

Passengers are urged to keep a few key guidelines in mind to enhance their travel experience:

1. Early Check-In:

  • Passengers are advised to check-in online to reserve suitable seats and arrive three hours before their flight.
  • From December 10 to January 3, passengers flying with Qatar Airways (excluding the United States of America and Canada) can opt for early check-in from 12 hours up to 4 hours before the flight departure time, at row 11 located at the Vertical Circulation Node (VCN).
  • Self-Service check-in and bag-drop facilities are available at the airport, allowing passengers to check-in, print boarding passes, and drop their bags at dedicated counters before proceeding to border control.
  • E-gates can be utilized by residents to expedite the immigration process, unless traveling with children under the age of 18.

2. Baggage Restrictions:

  • Baggage allowance and weight restrictions will be strictly enforced by airlines, so travelers are advised to inquire about baggage guidelines from their specific airline.
  • A baggage repack area with luggage weighing machines is available for passengers at the departure hall.

3. Security Check:

  • Before crossing the security check, personal items like watches, belts, wallets, and jewelry must be placed safely inside personal bags instead of loosely in trays.
  • Laptops and tablets must be removed from bags and placed in trays for X-ray screening.

4. Prohibited Items:

  • Passengers must ensure they are not carrying any prohibited items such as liquids, aerosols, gels, and small vehicles powered by lithium batteries, such as hoverboards.
  • Liquid containers should be packed in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag, with each container being 100ml or less.

5. E-Gates:

  • For those returning to Doha, passengers eligible to use the e-gates at the arrival immigration hall are advised to do so.
  • Oversized or irregularly shaped checked-in luggage will arrive at separate dedicated baggage reclaim belts.

6. Transportation Options:

  • Bus and taxi pavilions are located on either side of the arrival hall. Passengers are advised to use authorized taxis for high-quality service standards.
  • The metro station is a short indoor walking distance from the airport terminal, operating every three minutes and connecting the airport to popular spots around the city.
  • Short-term parking is available for smooth passenger pick-up and drop-off, with the first 60 minutes free from December 10, 2023, to January 3, 2024.
  • Car rental and limousine services are conveniently located near the arrival hall. Valet service users can pick up their vehicles at the departure's curbside upon arrival.

7. Assistance Kiosks:

  • QR Codes are available throughout the airport on key digital touchpoints for wayfinding assistance.
  • Passenger Digital Assistance Kiosks, with 20 language options, provide easy access to information and navigation.
