General Directorate of Traffic receives around 5,000 requests pertaining to violations from vehicle owners

The General Directorate of Traffic has received around 5,000 requests from owners of the vehicles, which are having cases pending with the department, pledging to correct legal objections in their cases.

These vehicles committed some violations and are required for booking or public prosecution. The department will study these requests that were submitted during the last two days and based on it, the department will look for the possibility of reconciliation with them.

This came as an initiative from the General Directorate of Traffic to open a new chapter with the youth who like the practice of drifting in legal way.

The initiative was launched on the sidelines of the third Qatar Youth Forum which was organised by the Qatar Center for Cultural and Heritage Events at Ali bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena.

The event is being held with the belief that youth are an integral part of the development of the system for the State of Qatar and in the context of preparing for a new stage to receive and host the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Many centres, institutions, youth initiatives, and a number of state institutions concerned with youth activities and Youth Consultative Committee participated in the Forum.

The purpose of new reconciliation initiative is to regulate the drifting in Sealine area so that it is practised under the supervision of the General Directorate of Traffic. Many youth have fear that if they go to the designated place for drifting then their vehicles will be seized by the department.

Meanwhile, the Technical Inspection Department of the General Directorate of Traffic in cooperation with the company (Fahes), organised an inspection campaign on trucks in Al Shahaniya area in Salwa Road.

The drive aims to control and monitor technical violations of trucks in various regions and roads, ensure that drivers comply with safety and security requirements and traffic rules in order to enhance road safety procedures.

The technical inspection patrols during the campaign checked the validity of the Vehicle's Istimara, the quality and suitability of the tires, lighting and brakes and other technical controls related to the safety of the vehicle.
