Four more succumb to Covid-19 as Qatar reports 608 cases on July 8

Ministry of Public Health today recorded 608 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) and 1204 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 96107. The Ministry also announced four deaths due to Covid-19. 

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 101553 and there are 5308 active cases under treatment. So far, 138 people died from the coronavirus in Qatar. Ministry conducted 5202 tests in last 24 hours taking the total tests done so far to 396199 tests. There are 60 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours.

Ministry announced four deaths of people aged 50, 55, 67 and 74 – all were receiving necessary medical care.

Eight patients were admitted to intensive care due to health complications resulting from infection with the virus, bringing the total number of cases receiving medical care in intensive care currently to 154.

“There has been an increase in cases among families. This is of great concern as this population group includes the highest percentage of the elderly and people with chronic conditions.  Now more than ever, we must be careful and protect the most vulnerable,” MoPH said in a statement.

The Ministry of Public Health urged anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 to contact the unified helpline (16000), or to go to one of the virus testing centers, since the earlier detection of the disease results in a better chance of recovery. 

The main screening centers include Muaither Health Center, Rawdat Al Khail Health Center, Umm Slal Health Center, and Al Gharafa Health Center
