Food safety inspections held in Al Rayyan Municipality

Al Rayyan Municipality's Health Control Section carried out 37,015 inspection campaigns on various food outlets and retailers during 2021.

As a result, 448 violation reports were issuedf according to Law No 8 for 1990 on the regulation of human food control, and 27 food outlets were shut for different violations, while 380 violations were resolved in reconciliation. In addition, 556 food samples were withdrawn for tests to ensure their compliance with the set standards. The section received and accordingly treated 470 related complaints.

Further, 750,299kg of rotten vegetables and fruits were destroyed for being unfit for human consumption. Besides, 26 food products were withdrawn from the market through the early warning system. The veterinarians at the section examined 53,146 kg of meat at Al Sailiya Central Market, which resulted in destroying of 365 full slaughtered carcasses of livestock, in addition to 3,137kg of meat for being unfit for human consumption.
