First vaccination for COVID-19 likely by beginning of next year: Dr Al Khal

Doha, Qatar: Dr Abdullatif Al Khal, Co-Chair of the National Pandemic Preparedness Committee and Head of Infectious Diseases at Hamad Medical Corporation has said that over 70 vaccinations are under experiments in all over the world.

“According to some indicators, the first vaccination is expected to be available by the beginning of next year if it passes in the test,” said Dr. Abdullatif Al Khal while talking to a Qatar TV program.

He said that over 70 vaccinations are under experiments in all over the world, if two or three of them pass in the test then it will be a great achievement.

ut he said that there are a number of questions about the vaccinations under testing like if it is effective, affordable, easy to produce for billions of people in the world.

“Whether it will work equally for all age group of people for years as the coronavirus could change year-by-year like other viruses,” said Dr Al Khal.
