The first joint campaign of the year to remove abandoned vehicles was launched yesterday at a number of areas at Al Rayyan Municipality.
The exercise is being carried out by the committee concerned in co-operation with the Mechanical Equipment Department, Al Rayyan Municipality and the Internal Security Forces (Lekhwiya).Al Rayyan Municipality director Jabir Hassan al-Jabir, general control section head Mohamed Haydan al-Marri and Lt Mohamed Jassim al-Tamimi from Lekhwiya were among those present at the launch.

l-Jabir pointed out that the campaign is part of a countrywide initiative being organised in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The campaign at Al Rayyan will continue for a fortnight and is expected to see the removal of around 500 vehicles from different areas of the municipality.
Once the campaign concludes, it is to be diverted to other areas across the country according to a schedule.

The official stressed the importance of public cooperation with such efforts.
Lt al-Tamimi noted that Lekhwiya is closely cooperating with the committee.
