Final National Museum of Qatar gallery unveiled

In celebration of Qatar National Day, H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums (QM), has unveiled the final gallery of the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ).

Titled ‘Qatar Today’, the final exhibit of the NMoQ’s permanent gallery route was unveiled in the presence of H E Sheikh Hassan bin Mohamed Al Thani and Sheikha Amna bint Abdulaziz bin Jassim Al Thani, Director of the NMoQ. 

This striking immersive digital installation illustrates Qatar in the contemporary age. Under the wise leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar overcame the blockade imposed on it on the June 5, 2017 and embarked on a new journey which has seen the country become stronger and more self-sufficient. 

The gallery underlines the resilience, unity, accomplishments and dreams of those living in Qatar.

The gallery consists of a striking digital installation on reflecting mirror screens, made up of 14 synchronized exhibits, playing a 12-minute video loop. 

‘Qatar Today’ was created with the help of artists, filmmakers, technicians, and producers from nearly a dozen countries. Over 50 hours of archive footage were sourced from Al Jazeera, Qatar TV, Al Rayyan TV, and beIN among others.

The gallery is one of the most striking and complex galleries at the NMoQ. Its opening marks the start of the second phase of the NMoQ opening and further cements the museum’s position as a world-class institution presenting an unparalleled immersive experience for culture enthusiasts.
