'Falcon' art installation unveiled at HIA

A new public art installation, 'Falcon', by artist Tom Classes was unveiled at Hamad International Airport (HIA) on Sunday, Qatar Museums chairperson HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani said on social media. "We are proud to unveil today a new public art, 'Falcon', by Tom Claassen at HIA depicting the national bird of Qatar. The artist took inspiration from the soft falcon's feathers and the more vivid lines mimic the airline's routes from Qatar to the rest of the world, as well as the curves that can be found in Arabic calligraphy and the folds in the fabric of traditional attire," HE Sheikha Al Mayassa tweeted. The falcon sits on a ledge at the airport, exuding royalty with its gold finish. "You can also find Qatar's national animal, '8 Oryxes' by the artist at the arrivals hall," she added.
