Doha: ExxonMobil Qatar has signed yesterday a sponsorship agreement with Qatar Foundation (QF) for gold level sponsorship of the Qatar Climate Change Conference 2021 organised by QF in collaboration with the Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah Foundation for Energy & Sustainable Development (The Al Attiyah Foundation).
The agreement was signed by Dr. Soud Al Thani, Sustainability Director at ASTAD Project Management, Qatar Foundation and Ana Laplaza, Research Director of ExxonMobil Research Qatar, at a ceremony held at ExxonMobil Research Qatar. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Ghanim Al Ibrahim, Chief Operations Officer, Qatar Foundation, Saleh Al Mana, Vice President and Public & Government Affairs Director, ExxonMobil Qatar, and high-level representatives from both organizations.
The Qatar Climate Change Conference 2021 will take place at QF’s Education City in Doha on September 13, 2021, and will bring together representatives of leading climate change players in Qatar’s public and private sectors for high level discussions on Qatar’s potential future climate action pathways.

“Through this gathering of ideas, perspectives, experiences, and solutions – from Qatar and beyond — we collectively hope to inform and engage people throughout Qatar about the country’s climate change actions and the role they can play in shaping a sustainable future, while also supporting our leadership and industry in meeting the challenges posed by climate change.”

The conference agenda will include three sessions: Qatar National Climate Action and Policy; Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in Qatar; and Carbon Market and Pricing – The Roles of Public and Private Sectors.
Sheikha Hind Bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Foundation; Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Chairman of Al Attiyah Foundation; Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive of Qatar Airways; and Dominic Genetti, President and General Manager of ExxonMobil Qatar, will participate in the first session’s panel discussion. Pete Trelenberg, ExxonMobil’s Director of Greenhouse Gas and Climate Change, will also represent ExxonMobil as a speaker in the conference’s third session.
