Environment Minister drives home the importance of sporting lifestyle

HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali al-Thani stressed that the National Sport Day is an important occasion to encourage and motivate all members of society to practise sports and make it an essential part of their daily lifestyle due to the importance of sports in individuals' lives and building healthy communities.

He said during his participation in a number of sporting events, organised by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in co-operation with Education City Golf Club, that the allocation of a National Sport Day since 2012 reflects the wise vision of the leadership in establishing a culture of sport and raising awareness of its importance and its role in the lives of individuals and society, in addition to expanding the base of popular participation in various sports activities, in order to build and strengthen human health and mental capacities to promote the objectives of Qatar's National Vision 2030.

He stressed that sports have a positive impact on human health and in resisting and reducing the effects of infection with Covid-19, which requires everyone, old and young, to be keen on practicing sports activities throughout the year, with the aim of raising a sports generation that contributes to the renaissance and development of our country.

HE Sheikh Dr Faleh noted the existence of a complementary relationship between sport and the environment, both of which have beneficial effects on human health and society, as the State of Qatar is making great efforts to preserve elements of the environment (air, water and soil) and reduce harmful effects on human health.

The State also pays great attention to sports and encourages its practice, he said, adding that this unique sports event is a good example of that interest. (QNA)
