Embassy of Qatar provides medical aid to Peru

Lima: The Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Peru has provided medical aid from Qatar Charity to Peru in support of its efforts to confront the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The delivery of the aid was attended by HE Minister of Health of the Republic of Peru Dr. Pilar Mazzetti, HE Peruvian Vice Minister of Defense Resources Gen. Jose Boggiano Romano, Peruvian Foreign Affairs Ministry's Directorate General of Africa, Middle East and Gulf Countries Ambassador Carlos Zapata Lopez, a number of senior officials in the Peruvian government, and HE Qatar's Ambassador to Peru Ali bin Hamad Al Sulaiti.

Dr. Pilar Mazzetti expressed thanks to the State of Qatar, its government and people for the humanitarian stance towards the Republic of Peru and its support for the health sector to confront the Coronavirus pandemic, and for providing medical aid to her country.

HE Ambassador Carlos Zapata Lopez also expressed thanks and appreciation to the State of Qatar for standing by the Republic of Peru in light of the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic, stressing the depth of the bilateral relations between the two countries.

On behalf of the Peruvian Minister of Defense, Gen. Jose Boggiano Romano extended thanks to the State of Qatar and hailed its humanitarian stance towards his country, as well as its valuable support that would allow the front-line workers to confront the Coronavirus pandemic. HE added that the assistance provided by the State of Qatar is very beneficial in this difficult period his country is going through.

In turn, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Peru Ali bin Hamad Al Sulaiti stressed the humanitarian role of the State of Qatar and its assistance to friendly countries in light of the Covids-19 pandemic, in addition to its keenness to stand by friendly countries affected by the spread of the virus.

Since the beginning of the Coronavirus crisis, the State of Qatar has provided urgent medical aid to nearly 78 friendly countries, distributed on five continents around the world, in order to help them confront this crisis and reduce its consequences, HE Qatar's Ambassador said.

HE pointed out that Qatar Airways played a pivotal and prominent role in the delivery of aid in light of the outbreak of the virus, and was also able to transport one million stranded people around the world and helped them return to their homes, adding that this effort earned international praise by several governments around the world.

Ambassador Al Sulaiti hailed the depth of relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Peru, noting that the State of Qatar has played humanitarian role in many crises that Peru has gone through.
