Doha Municipality records 340 hygiene law violations

Doha: Doha Municipality recorded 340 violations of hygiene law during a week-long joint inspection campaign at a number of areas in Doha city.

The inspection campaign was launched by Doha Municipality in cooperation with Mechanical Equipment Department, General Cleanliness Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) and Ministry of Interior from June 14 to 18, 2020. 

As much as 135 abandoned vehicles were also seized during the campaign, said MME in a statement.

The committee for impounding abandoned vehicles removed 25 abandoned vehicles and the owners of other vehicles rectified the situation.

The inspection campaign covered Fireej bin Abdul Aziz, Mesheireb, Najma, Al Mansoura, Al Khulaifiyat, Ras Abu Abud and Umm Ghuwailina.

Meanwhile, the Department of Industrial Inspection and Pollution Control conducted an inspection campaign on industries at Industrial Area, Street No. 57 to ensure the compliance of environmental law.

The municipal inspected visited 137 industries and factories during the inspection campaign in which they recorded 32 violations. Legal actions were taken against the erring industries.

Head of the Inspection Team at the Department of Industrial Inspection and Pollution Control, Badar Al Maliki said that the inspectors used to visit the industries and factories to check whether they adhered to the rules and regulation related to the protection of environment.
