Doha Metro Unveils Service Enhancements for AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023

Doha, Qatar: Doha Metro has released details regarding adjustments to its metro and metrolink services in preparation for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.

Beginning on Friday, January 12, 2024, the operational hours for Doha Metro and Lusail Tram will commence at 12 pm in conjunction with the opening of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, as officially communicated through their social media platforms. Additionally, the metroexpress service at Sport City will be available from Al Waab QLM, shelter 2 throughout the tournament.

In alignment with the AFC Asian Cup, specific modifications have been implemented for Metrolink services in various areas:

  1. The M311 metrolink service will operate from Al Sudan Bus Station instead of Sport City Station.

2. The M202 and M203 metrolink services will operate from Qatar National Library Station, shelter 1, rather than the Education City station during the tournament.

Faisal Al-Moftah, the Mobility and Logistics Executive Director of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 Local Organising Committee, conveyed during a press conference held on January 10, 2024, "We have 37 metro stations to transport fans, five tournament stadiums connected to the metro, and four stadiums connected by private transport buses." He also emphasized the deployment of 600 environmentally friendly buses to serve media and fans during the tournament, along with the availability of 81,000 parking spaces around the nine stadiums hosting the AFC Asian Cup.
