Doha Metro changes Al Wakra metro link route for Qatar-Saudi match

Doha: Due to the semi-final match at Al Janoub Stadium on December 5, Al Wakrah metrolink services of Doha Metro will operate from Ras Bu Fontas station. Parking restrictions will also be in place, Doha Metro said in a statement.

“Changes to Al Wakra metrolink routes: For the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup semi-final taking place at Al Janoub Stadium, Al Wakrah on December 5, we are temporarily moving Al Wakrah metrolink services to Ras Bu Fontas,” the tweet said.

“Changes to parking at Al Wakrah station: Parking at Al Wakra station will be moved to a nearby area,” it added.

Qatar faces Saudi Arabia in the semi-final to be played at Al Janoub and most of the fans are expected use the metro services to reach the stadium.

The day Qatar beat UAE 4-2 in their last group match played at the Khalifa International Stadium, Doha Metro recorded a massive number of 95,000 journeys.

The football fans were impressed with the ease of travel and convenience as they could avoid the traffic and parking woes and could just walk into the stadium.
