Doha Central beautification project works continue

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has stressed that it continues with the implementation of packages 2 & 3 of the Doha Central Development & Beautification Projects, within the works of the Supervisory Committee for the Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar.

Packages 2 & 3 include the development of six main areas between Corniche Street and A-Ring Rd, covering seven main streets, infrastructure development, construction of plazas, pedestrian and cycle paths and other works, Ashghal said on Twitter.

Package 2 of the Doha Central Development & Beautification Projects includes developing areas around National Museum of Qatar and opposite the Museum of Islamic Art, covering an area of ??4.78sq km, while Package 3 includes developing the area around Grand Hamad Street, covering 8.24sq km, according to Ashghal.

The Doha Central Development & Beautification Projects will provide a further facelift to Doha through a host of infrastructure development and beautification works.

The projects, across their three phases, will make the city a ‘destination of choice’ where the needs of its people and visitors will be met and at the same time create memorable experiences by linking people to places and destinations through a convenient, safe and accessible public realm.

Besides, Central Doha’s landmarks will serve as points that will help people create their own mental map of the surrounding environment.

This will be achieved by providing pedestrian-friendly transportation, including footpaths and crossings, to encourage visitors using various modes of transportation.

The projects will promote walking, and enhance the identity of Qatar’s historical and cultural legacy and recognise the natural environment of the country.

The Supervisory Committee for the Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar at Ashghal had announced the start of implementation works on the second and third packages in June this year.
