Doha Bank promotes careers, inspires talent

As part of efforts to promote careers and work-based education among the youth of Qatar to equip them with banking knowledge and skills, Doha Bank has participated in the 12th Qatar University Careers Fair and at the Qatar Banking Studies and Business Administration Independent Secondary School for Boys/Girls (QBSBAS) Careers day held recently.

At the Qatar University Careers Fair held at the university’s College of Business and Economics building, Doha Bank’s information booth, one of 75 stands representing government and private organisations, provided students with valuable insights on the labour market.

The visiting students were also briefed about training programmes and internships available to help them develop their skills, abilities, and professional experience. Attendees at the career fair benefited from access to more than 1,700 employment opportunities, 400 internships, and 60 academic sponsorships.

Doha Bank representatives also visited the students of the QBSBAS to introduce them to the banking system and familiarise them with the operations of banks through understanding various departments, from teller and call centre to corporate banking, among others.

Scott Kind, head of Learning & Development at Doha Bank, said: “We were honoured to work closely again with Qatar University Career Fair and QBSBAS, which offer outstanding platforms to uncover bright new talents.

“Participation in this kind of career and training development initiatives is a key part of our long-term strategy, as it allows us to reach out to and inspire the next generation of young minds, who ultimately will help shape the way we do business in the future. Connecting gifted students with employment opportunities at Doha Bank helps to enrich our team, whilst further underlining our commitment to uplifting the local community.”

Doha Bank’s collaborations with QBSBAS kicked-off in 2016 and until today the bank has trained 35 students within its organisation with impressive achievements, including the bank being recognised with a trophy for being mentor to the school’s students.

Doha Bank operates various programmes and development solutions designed to equip students for a career in the banking sector.

These include its Graduate Management Trainee Programme, which aims to recruit and train fresh graduates, providing them with excellent opportunities for career growth and grooming them for roles as future leaders in the banking industry.
