Doha, Qatar: The Doha 2024 Organising Committee for the World Aquatics Championships has officially opened volunteer applications, providing individuals with a unique chance to contribute to this historic event.
Scheduled to take place from February 2 to 18, 2024, the World Aquatics Championships will mark the first time the prestigious aquatic sports competition is hosted in the Middle East. Athletes from around the world will compete in six different aquatic sports across three top-notch venues in the Qatari capital.
The organizing committee invites enthusiastic individuals, both local and international, to join the volunteer team and play a vital role in the success of this landmark championship. Approximately 1000 volunteers will be integral to creating a memorable experience for athletes, officials, and spectators. Volunteers have the opportunity to choose specific areas where they wish to contribute, aligning their skills and interests with various roles.
In addition to the World Aquatics Championships, volunteers can also register for the World Aquatics Masters Championships, scheduled between February 23 and March 3, 2024. This provides a chance to broaden their experience and contribute to the success of multiple aquatics competitions.
Doha 2024 Director General, Khaleel Al Jaber, emphasized the importance of volunteer involvement, stating, "The volunteers will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of the event and providing a warm welcome to athletes and fans from around the world. The variety of roles that we need fulfilling for the Championships means that there are opportunities for anyone who is interested, and I would encourage everyone, no matter where in the world they are based, to apply to work on this historic Championships."
Volunteers can engage in various areas, including event logistics, spectator-facing roles, and media and communications departments.
