DEAP Qatar beach cleanup drive

The Doha Environmental Actions Project (DEAP Qatar) is set to hold a beach cleanup drive in northern Fuwairit aimed at protecting the environment and raising public awareness on the dangers of plastic pollution.

In a post on its social media pages, DEAP Qatar said this family- and children-friendly event will be held in “a sedan-friendly location though the last 1-2km are bumpy”.

“We have very limited spaces, people must register. We are still in Covid-19 times, so we need to be responsible and respect the maximum number of participants in a public gathering,” DEAP Qatar said, adding that volunteers must have their own transportation.

Green Ehteraz, face masks and social distancing are mandatory. Anyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Participants will be required to bring their own gloves – work or gardening gloves are recommended. Bags will be provided.

Participants are also advised to dress properly and be respectful of the local culture: shoulders covered, no small shorts. Long shorts or pants are preferred. “Don’t forget sun protection and sun screen.”

“Bring your own food and drinks. Due to Covid-19, sharing food is discouraged. It’s getting hot, make sure to bring enough water. Reusable water bottles are encouraged,” DEAP Qatar added. “There are no any toilets or facilities on site. There’s always a petrol station along the way.”
