Doha: Inspectors at Hamad International Airport (HIA) foiled an attempt to smuggle tobacco into Qatar.
On Twitter, Customs has shared a photo of the substance which weighs a total of 33 kilograms.
The authorities stated that the prohibited tobacco was found hidden inside the passenger's luggage. A seizure report has been issued and the items are handed over to the state authorities, according to a statement by Customs on Twitter.
The authorities have been issuing continuous warnings against carrying illegal substances into the country.
Customs officers are provided with all means of support including the latest devices and continuous training to read the body language of passengers and be aware of the latest methods followed by smugglers.
