Construction standards modified

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has modified and updated Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) in co-operation with the private and public sectors, the Public Works Authority and Qatar General Organisation for Standardisation (QS).

The update involves a complete accreditation and application of the international building standards aiming at diversifying the sources of importing materials, and to keep pace with the industrial developments at the building and construction sector.

The updates and modification include:

Putting new mechanisms in the design contracts that allow the diversification of the sources of importing building and construction materials while guaranteeing their quality in accordance with the international standards;

Allowing the use of the local and imported limestone in the construction of the asphalt layers and concrete works and other construction uses; Allowing the use of recycled materials in accordance with specified standards including building refuse such as rabble and lower non-asphalt layers.
