Cold & foggy weather tonight; ‘unsettled’, rainy from Thursday

Doha: Weather inshore until 6 am on Tuesday will be cold by night, misty to foggy at places by late night, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report, warning of poor horizontal visibility expected at places by late night.

Offshore, it will be scattered clouds at times, the report added. Wind inshore will be northwesterly at a speed of 05 to 15 knot.

Offshore, it will be northwesterly at a speed of 15 to 25 knot, gusting to 30 knot at times. Visibility will be 4 to 8 or 2 kilometer or less at places by late night. Sea state inshore will be 2 to 4 feet, rises to 5 feet at times. Offshore, it will be 5 to 8 feet, rises to 9 feet at times.

The department, throught its Twitter handle in the afternoon, predicted the chance of scattered rain on Thursday which may last until Friday noon.

“Wind direction expected to shift to southeasterly on Wednesday due to an extension of a low pressure system over the region with increasing amount of clouds gradually at evening and night,” it said.

“Northwesterly fresh to strong wind is expected to return...the country on Thursday exceeding 20 kt in some areas gusting to 30 kt offshore causing wave height to rise over 7 ft with a drop in temperature especially at night and early morning,” it added.
