The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced a single-lane traffic closure in both directions of Grand Hamad Street along a 700m stretch, from the intersection known as Abdulla Bin Jassim Intersection up to the intersection of Grand Hamad Street with Al Mahar Street. The diversion will be implemented in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic from July 18 for a period of six months, Ashghal has said in a statement. This will be done to facilitate the implementation of infrastructure development and beautification works on Grand Hamad Street as part the Doha Central Development and Beautification Project, third package. During the closure period, two lanes will remain open to traffic in both directions and access will be provided to residential areas and commercial facilities in the neighbourhood throughout the project implementation period, Ashghal has said. While ensuring proper road signage to alert commuters on this temporary diversion, Ashghal has called on all commuters to adhere to the speed limit and follow road signage to ensure the safety of people.
