Children allowed at book fair from Tuesday evening

Children under 12 will be allowed to attend the 31st Doha International Book Fair (DIBF) from today until it concludes on January 22 from 4pm to 9pm, according to information available on the DIBF 2022 website.

This will be done while taking all necessary measures to ensure their safety, the Ministry of Culture said in a related statement on social media on Monday.

The event is being held at the Doha Exhibition & Convention Centre. The general timings are from 9am to 10pm, Saturday to Thursday, and from 3pm to 10pm on Friday. All these days children will be allowed only from 4pm to 9pm.

“The exhibition's management will take all measures to preserve the safety of children by providing enough ventilation at the venue,” the statement noted.

The number of children allowed at a time inside the venue should be a maximum of 15% of the total capacity, and should be accompanied by their parents or supervisers if coming in groups on school trips.

Capacity of the exhibition is 2,000 visitors at all times, according to the Ministry of Public Health, the DIBF website states. Doors will be closed upon reaching the full capacity if the total number is reached inside the exhibition halls.
