Cash transport vehicles must meet safety specifications: MoI

Doha: Cash transport vehicles must meet certain safety specifications and conditions set by the authorities, said the Ministry of Interior (MoI) during a virtual awareness seminar organised by the Establishments and Missions’ Security Department of the Ministry.

More than 480 security and safety heads from companies and community schools attended the event, titled ‘Duties and Responsibilities of Private Security Guards'. The webinar also highlighted the requirements needed to host communities and companies’ events.

“The specifications and conditions include that the vehicle must be armoured from all sides, must be divided into at least two parts inside, and have only one door for entry and exit in addition to the driver’s door,” the Ministry said.

The MoI added that cash transport vehicles should be equipped with front and back cameras, a tracking device and communication devices and alarms in case of an attack. The car should also have a black box that records activities in the vehicle and communications.

During the webinar, the Ministry noted that when funds are being moved, the operators must inform the Operations Department daily, before 8 am, with a report on all their proposed movements.

The Ministry also urged operators to notify authorities in case of accidents, car breakdown, or the event of any suspicious activities around the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the webinar explained the duties and responsibilities of the private security guards working at commercial and residential complexes and hotels; and requirements for granting permits for public programmes, celebrations, and gatherings by communities and companies. They also emphasised the importance of cooperating with private security guards.
