HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday chaired the Cabinet’s regular weekly meeting at its Emiri Diwan premises.
Following the meeting, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud said the Cabinet considered topics tabled on its agenda as follow:
The Cabinet approved a draft decision by HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment establishing departments in the administrative units that make up the Qatar General Organisation for Standards and Metrology and set their terms of reference.
The Cabinet also approved joining the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP). The ISOCARP is an advisory body officially accredited by the Unesco. It supports private development, population and urban planning projects.
The Cabinet then reviewed the following topics and took a set of decisions.
The Cabinet reviewed a draft law amending some provisions of Law No 7 of 2012 on the educational voucher system.
The Cabinet also reviewed a draft decision by HE the Minister of Interior amending some provisions of decision No 12 of 2008 on the insurance fees on non-Qatari mechanical vehicles.
Then the Cabinet reviewed a letter by HE the Ministry of Transport and Communications on the 8th periodic report of the E-Government Steering Committee on its works from January to June 2016.
The committee, chaired by HE the Minister of Transport and Communications and with the membership of representatives from the authorities concerned, is tasked with the follow-up of the implementation of the e-government strategy, and the achievement of co-ordination and communication rules between the Ministry of Transport and Communications and other ministries and government agencies, in order to ensure that the plans and programmes of these bodies are aligned with the overall e-government strategy.
The report highlighted the important achievements of the committee: Digital services index increased by 103%, raising the efficiency of administrative processes by 67%, the adoption of the master plan of the second phase of the strategy from 2016 to 2017, the adoption of the financial budget for the e-government for the fiscal year 2016, and the results of the first assessment of the digital transformation of government agencies.
The Cabinet also reviewed a letter by chairman of the Board of the Regulatory Authority at Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) on the annual report and audited accounts of the Authority for 2015.
They reviewed a memo by HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs on the results of the 104th regular session the Arab Administrative Development Organisation (Cairo, October 2016).
