Awqaf Ministry urges Muslims to increase worship in last ten days of Ramadan

Doha: The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs urged Muslims, in a statement on Tuesday, to increase their worship in the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan and pay Zakat al-Fitr.

The Ministry's statement highlighted Laylat al-Qadr as an opportunity for Muslims to compete in acts of worship and religious obedience, and emphasized the importance of Zakat al-Fitr.

The statement added that the wisdom behind Zakat al-Fitr is to help the poor and prevent them from asking for charity on the day of Eid.

The statement also explained that the Zakat that one person must pay is two kilos and a half of food to the poor.
