Ashghal to open a new signal-controlled intersection on Friday

Ahead of the new academic year beginning, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will on Friday open a new signal-controlled intersection connecting Al Luqta Street with Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor to serve road users heading for Al Luqta, Al Gharrafa, and Al Rayyan. The opening will be carried our in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.

Ashghal has introduced the new junction as an access point, alternative to Al Gharrafa (Immigration) Interchange and Tilted Interchange to cut congestion on both junctions and enhance traffic towards schools around and Education City along with markets, malls and nearby vital facilities. Beneath the signalised junction is Al Luqta Tunnel which Ashghal upgraded into four lanes in each direction instead of two lanes to ensure free flow between Al Gharrafa and Al Luqta, and to be integrated with the new intersection in all directions as well.
