Amir stresses dialogue for regional peace

Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in an official visit to Iran yesterday held an official talks session with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H E Dr. Hassan Rouhani and also met with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H E Ali Khamenei.
H H the Amir and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran held an official talks session at the Republican Palace in Tehran. The session discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them to broader levels, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment and tourism.
Talks during the session also tackled several regional and international issues, especially the latest developments in the region and means for calming; avoiding further escalation and peacefully settling differences in a way that contributes to achieving security, peace and stability in the region and the world.
H H the Amir also met yesterday evening with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran H E Ali Khamenei in Tehran. 
During the meeting, they reviewed the existing friendship between the two countries in various aspects and ways to develop them. 
They also discussed several regional and international issues, especially the latest developments in the region and means for calming and maintaining regional and global security and stability.
Their Excellencies members of the delegation accompanying H H the Amir attended the meeting along with a lineup of Their Excellencies Iranian ministers and senior officials. 
In joint press statement His Highness gave with H E Iran’s President following the talks session, H H the Amir affirmed that his meeting with H E the President and at the level of the two official delegations, was positive and fruitful, as it has dealt with the outstanding relations between the two countries and means to develop them. 
H H the Amir also  extended thanks to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and to the Iranian government and people for the reception accorded to him during his visit to Tehran.
H H the Amir indicated that the two sides agreed to boost trade and tourism exchange, pointing out that Qatar’s relation with Iran is historic and has seen great development. There has always been open channels and discussions with Iran even in the presence of some differences, His Highness said lauding and appreciating Iran’s position after the blockade of Qatar; and extending thanks for providing all the facilities to Qatar and the Qatari people through immediately opening its airspace and seaports.
H H the Amir indicated that the visit comes at a sensitive time the region is going through, indicating that it has been agreed with the brothers and with the Iranian President that dialogue is the only solution to the region’s crises, and to reducing escalation.
At the end of his statement, H H the Amir stated that he had extended an invitation to HE President of Iranian to visit the State of Qatar, which His Excellency promised to do sometime soon.
H E the Iranian President started his statement by expressing his happiness at HH the Amir’s acceptance to the invitation of His Excellency to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran, praising the two countries’ ties of neighborliness and historical friendship.
H E President Rouhani added that the talks came out with important decisions regarding the expansion of bilateral relations and those existing in the economic and commercial fields, as well as the great potentials of the two countries in the scientific and cultural fields that the two countries can enhance.
Regarding the joint committee between the two countries, His Excellency stressed that it will be held during the upcoming months, and will be held regularly and annually. He voiced hope that there would be a “second committee for trade and investment cooperation in all sectors, including the technical field and other affairs”, in addition to intensifying political visits and economic delegations between the two countries.
In his remarks, H E the Iranian President emphasised the importance of the security of the region, especially the security of waterways in the Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman, stressing that the two countries will cooperate and consult to establish and ensure security in these paths.
