Al Jaber-Empire Group will soon set up a showroom in Qatar that will showcase Chinese industrial goods for Qatari companies.

“The showroom will be purely for business community so that they can see and feel the product here. The showroom will not be for consumers,” Bart Raaphorst, General Manager, Al Jaber – Empire Group told The Peninsula on the sidelines of an event organised in Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry. “Top quality manufacturers from China will be displaying their products in B2B (business to business) environment,” he said.

The chamber yesterday organised a meeting for Chinese business delegation with Qatar based private companies. The showroom is expected to be operational in six months.

The showroom will allow Qatar based companies to talk directly to China based manufacturers. “The showroom will have engineers and officials of the companies to answer the queries Qatari companies,” said Raaphorst.

Currently products from China come in Qatar after changing multiple hands and travelling many locations.

Usually a Chinese manufacture has regional agent in China, who sends his products and queries to agent in Dubai. This agent in Dubai works in coordination with another agent in Qatar who remains in touch with companies in Qatar.

The showroom will save time and cost of Qatari companies. “It is not practical for businessmen to visit China every week. By having products here in Doha, the showroom will reduce the frequency of visits of company representatives to China because most of queries regarding products will be solved here,” said Raaphorst.

The companies which have signed up to display products in showroom include manufacturers of granite, marble, fasteners, piping products, windows and doors and other project related products.

This initiative is backed by in China by various government agencies in order to ensure the quality of companies and products, said Raaphorst. This initiative will also improve the image of Chinese products in Qatari market
