Air shows, cultural events at Katara

An array of spectacular air shows and activities marked the Qatar National Day at Katara – the Cultural Village, enthralling a large number of spectators. Katara, which evolved to be a world-class cultural hub, scheduled 60 events to last until December 19 – a festivity which reflects the spirit of pride and loyalty to Qatar and its wise leadership.

Some of these aerobatic air shows include those organised by Qatar Armed Forces and Al Zaeem College, as well as the ‘air ambulance service’ and ‘aircraft without a pilot’ shows. Katara also welcomed the ‘Al Adaam’ tour as it stopped for its third station at the village, which began from Sealine beach at 7am and passed by Qatar’s popular landmarks.

Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti received ‘Al Adaam’ from world archery champion Abdelaziz Saleh al-Attiyah.

Apart from Katara, the routes included the Museum of Islamic Art, The Pearl-Qatar, Al Khor, Qatar Foundation, Al Shaqab and Aspire Zone, before its final stop at Darb Al Saai.

Children also enjoyed the ‘Entertaining Train’ as they watch choreographed events at Katara’s waterfront while the Katara esplanade hosted a traditional 'Ardah' performance, which attracted many residents and visitors.

Restaurants at Katara will offer special menus as part of the National Day celebration today and will run until December 19.
