AgriteQ, EnviroteQ conclude after attracting 30,000 visitors

The ninth Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ) and the third Qatar International Environmental Exhibition (EnviroteQ) concluded on Monday at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre after receiving as many as 30,000 visitors in five days.

The valedictory function was held in the presence of HE the Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie and HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali al-Thani who felicitated the key organisers and major participants.

Representatives of Baladna, Qatar Development Bank, Hassad Food, Al Meera, Lulu Hypermarket, Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, Qatar Chamber, Agrico Qatar, Qatar Islamic Bank, Vodafone, Al Rayyan Water Company and Al Sulaiteen Group were felicitated.

A statement from the Ministry of Municipality noted that the event witnessed the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding between the two ministries and a group of participating entities as well as between local and foreign companies. These will contribute to increasing production and effectively contributing to increased self-sufficiency and achieving food security, and joint research.

Engineer Muhammad Ali Al-Khoury, head of the exhibition’s organising committee and director of the Public Parks Department, said that event achieved great success with the participation of 650 exhibitors from 52 countries. There were 30 official national pavilions.

Al-Khoury explained that the exhibition proved once again its prominent role in introducing the best products and latest technologies to the local market. “The wide participation reflected the growing international confidence in the promising opportunities and huge potentials available within the Qatari agricultural market. The exhibitions also witnessed the launch of a number of specialised publications,” he said.

Dr. Muhammad Saif al-Kuwari, chairman of the Conference Committee accompanying the exhibition, said that the event succeeded in attracting expert researchers and scientists in agriculture and the environment sectors. A total of 56 researchers including 40 Qatari specialists spoke at the conference.

He said that the scientists, researchers and specialists who participated in the accompanying scientific exhibition presented the latest innovations, science and research in the field of developing agriculture and eradicating agricultural pests as well as food security.
