97% of teachers, school staff vaccinated against Covid-19: official

Around 97% of the teachers, workers and administrative staff at schools have been vaccinated against Covid-19, Mohamed Ahmed al-Bishri, adviser to HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education, told Qatar TV on Monday.

All the labourers at the schools are already vaccinated, he explained. The vaccination process which started in February this year in co-operation with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) is continuing.

The various departments concerned at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) have taken all the necessary precautions and preparations against Covid-19 ahead of the final year exams for both private and government schools from Class I to Class XII.

Al-Bishri said the MoEHE health inspectors and teams from the MoPH conduct daily monitoring visits to schools to ensure compliance with the Covid-19 protocols.

"The exam schedule was finalised after considering the need to reduce any possible physical interaction among the students in addition to maintaining a safe distance between each individual," he noted.

Al-Bishri stressed that all students have to attend the exams at schools with no exceptions or excuses other than with proven medical reports from the entities and centres concerned under the MoPH in case of Covid-19 infection, interaction with those infected or for other medical and health reasons.

The blended education and remote learning concepts were assessed continuously and all the outcomes prove they were considerably successful. Substantial efforts have been exerted to make remote learning more accessible and interactive for students and to monitor their attendance in classes.

All the necessary infrastructure and sophisticated equipment have been supplied by the MoEHE, in addition to launching two satellite TV channels to telecast the lessons besides the other online means.

All schools across the country have been sanitised before the exams. Currently they are being sanitised after each exam day. Similarly, school bus drivers are being quarantined from other bus drivers and their temperature is checked every day before they start work. The same applies to bus attendants. Buses are also sanitised every day. Also, the body temperature of all students is measured before they board the buses or entering the school to ensure safety for all.
