719 face prosecution for violating Covid measures

The designated authorities have referred 719 people to prosecution for violating the preventative and precautionary measures enforced by the country to contain the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19), the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Monday.

Among them, 542 people were referred to the prosecution for not wearing masks in places where they are mandatory, 132 for gathering at parks and the Corniche and 20 for gathering in closed places.

Also, 10 people were referred to the prosecution for not maintaining safe physical distancing, 10 for not installing the Ehteraz app and five for violating the rule on the number of people allowed in a vehicle.

The measure is in line with the Cabinet decision, Decree Law No 17 of 1990 on infectious diseases, and the precautionary measures in force in the country to contain the spread of Covid-19.

The authorities have called on the public to adhere to the precautionary measures in place to ensure their safety and that of others.
